00:47--He thought nothing of being black; he didn't really relate to whites.
1:30--His wish is that the two races would accept each other more readily. He goes on to briefly recall how he was the first black person to run for the Oconee County Council. The top five were elected; he came in sixth out of fourteen candidates, narrowly missing the office.
